As stated when discussing about 17th Dutch flags, red stripe began replacing the former orange one so that after 1660 almost no orange-white-blue flags were seen. Also, it's worth to point out that in 1650 the States-General colours ("Generaliteitsvlag") were reversed to a yellow lion on red background, rather than the original red lion on yellow field - because this latter was almost identical to Holland province coat of arms, so offending citizens from other Dutch provinces.
