By 1863, the "Southern Cross" battleflag had become so popular among Dixie citizens that, in May of that year, the Confederate Congress adopted a new flag and ensign for the nation - a white design with the "Southern Cross" at the canton.
There were multiple versions of this flag, either related to the star counts or the colors distribution.
